About

I was born an Air Force brat in San Antonio Texas. We traveled around and finally settled in Wichita Kansas, where I finished middle school and high school. I joined the Navy after high school, and went to boot camp in San Diego. It was then off to Newport Rhode Island for A school where I graduated at the top of my class, earning an extra stripe. Then I was stationed aboard the USS Hepburn, a destroyer escort, DE-1055. We made two West Pacs, touring the far east, including an Indian Ocean patrol that took us to Indonesia, Pakistan, Africa and Reunion Island. We also made a trip to Australia to patrol with Navies from Canada and New Zealand. I took almost 3,000 photos, mostly slides during my four years. Currently I am working on a photo book of our times aboard and the places we went.

  2. I served aboard the Happy Hep from 1979 to 1984 as a Fire Control Tech. I ran across your page on an image search. Did 3 west pacs and spent a lot of time doing circles in the Indian Ocean.
